The Star Store
The Star Store is and icon in The Village of Langley, Langley, WA. It is a marvelous one stop shop for an amazing selection of your shopping basics, gourmet food and an impressive selection of wine and spirits. The deli offers home cooked goodies everyday, along with scrumptious made to order sandwiches. The mercantile section has fun and funky clothing, accessories, housewares and eclectic gifts. You will want to stop by to check them out when you are in town.
My version of this recently updated little building is fashioned from enameled copper. It is decorated with a hand drawn image that is transferred to the enamel using a decal process. It is further embellished with a star that sits atop the roof. Each layer of enamel and decals is individually fired in a kiln to produce a long lasting, vibrant surface design. Additional architectural detail was added by way of a riveted copper roof overhang. The 6 3/4” tall by 5” wide facade is affixed to a 5”x5” wooden cradle that is decorated in an antiqued checkerboard pattern. It includes an annealed steel hanging wire.
