The Langley Motel
The Langley Motel
The Langley Motel has an iconic neon sign drawing you in. It sits at the corner of Langley Village in Langley, WA. This is my interpretation of this building and it’s retro signage.
The facade is fashioned from enameled copper. It is decorated with a hand drawn image that is transferred to the enamel using a decal process. It is further colored with enamel watercolor paints. Each layer of enamel, decals and watercolors is individually fired in a kiln to produce a long lasting, vibrant surface design. The 7 3/4” tall by 5” wide facade is affixed to a 5”x5” wooden cradle that is decorated in an antiqued checkerboard pattern. It includes an annealed steel hanging wire.
