The Dog House Tavern

$425.00

The Dog House Tavern is local icon in The Village of Langley in Langley, WA. It has been closed for years, but is undergoing renovations and will hopefully be open for business in the near future. It once housed a tavern on the first floor and a ballroom on the top floor. This is my interpretation of this building, with a dalmation replacing the perpendicular “Tavern” sign that once hung between the upper windows.

The facade is fashioned from enameled copper. It is decorated with a hand drawn image that is transferred to the enamel using a decal process. It is further colored with enamel watercolor paints. Each layer of enamel, decals and watercolors is individually fired in a kiln to produce a long lasting, vibrant surface design. The 8” tall by 6” wide facade is affixed to a 6”x6” wooden cradle that is decorated in an antiqued checkerboard pattern. The little roof overhang is constructed of copper and is nailed to the cradle through holes in the enamel. It includes an annealed steel hanging wire.
